#Lync Question 13: What is new in Lync Server 2013 CU1

February 2013 updates for Lync Server 2013 (CU1) have been released (KB 2809243)

From what I understand apart from the usual fixes it includes:

  • Location Based Routing for Non-Emergency Call
  • Groups Call Pickup (SEFAUTIL required for configuration)
  • Edge server related updates tor Lync Mobile 2013 clients (yet released) to support Voice/Video calling

Let have a quick look what is actual detailed.

Update for Core Components (KB 2781550)

Update fixes the following issues:

  • Missed call notification for delegates who do not answer incoming calls in a Lync Server 2013 environment (KB 2785193)
  • A PIC or unverified user can unexpectedly view your presence status in Lync 2013 in a Lync Server 2013 organization (KB 2785196)
  • An update is available that enables you to use a Call Leg Media Quality Report in a Lync Server 2013 environment (KB 2798143)
  • Changes are not updated in the ABS databases for a user whose distinguished name is changed in AD DS in a Lync Server 2013 environment (KB 2798145)
  • You cannot sign in to a client for Lync Server 2013 after a connection issue occurs between the primary Front End server and other servers in a Lync Server 2013 environment (KB 2794261)

This update is required on the following server roles:

  • Lync Server 2013 – Standard Edition Server
  • Lync Server 2013 – Enterprise Edition – Front End server
  • Lync Server 2013 – Director
  • Lync Server 2013 – Edge Server
  • Lync Server 2013 – Standalone Mediation Server

!!!! Do read the KB as there is a procedure to update the databases !!!!

 

Update for Conferencing server (KB 2781551)

Update improves the reliability, stability, and performance of Lync Server 2013, Conferencing Server.

This update is required on the following server roles:

  • Lync Server 2013 – Standard Edition Server
  • Lync Server 2013 – Enterprise Edition – Front End Server

 

Update for Web Components server (KB 2781564)

Update fixes the following issues:

  • You cannot join a meeting that was created in a Lync Server 2013 environment by using Internet Explorer on a Windows Phone 8 device (KB 2794262)
  • Changes are not updated in the ABS databases for a user whose distinguished name is changed in AD DS in a Lync Server 2013 environment (KB 2798145)
  • “Cannot join the meeting due to user permissions” error message when a user tries to join a meeting in Outlook 2013 in a Lync Server 2013 environment (KB 2794263)

This update is required on the following server roles:

  • Lync Server 2013 – Standard Edition Server
  • Lync Server 2013 – Enterprise Edition – Front End Server
  • Lync Server 2013 – Director Server

!!! If you have to remove cu1 then there is a procedure with the kb to fix duplicates entries within the ApplicationHost.Config file !!!

 

Update for Standard or Enterprise edition server (KB 2781547)

Update fixes the following issues:

  • Address Book Web Query service fails when you set the “UseNormalizationRules” parameter to “False” in Lync Server 2013 (2785194)
  • Changes are not updated in the ABS databases for a user whose distinguished name is changed in AD DS in a Lync Server 2013 environment (2798145)
  • Error message when you try to assign a location policy to a cloud-based user in an on-premises Lync Server 2013 and Lync Online hybrid deployment (2798150)

This update is required on the following server roles:

  • Lync Server 2013 – Standard Edition Server
  • Lync Server 2013 – Enterprise Edition – Front End Server
  • Lync Server 2013 – Edge Server

 

Update for Web Conferencing server (KB 2787570)

Update improves the reliability, stability, and performance of Lync Server 2013, Web Conferencing Server.

This update is required on the following server roles:

  • Lync Server 2013 – Standard Edition Server
  • Lync Server 2013 – Enterprise Edition – Front End Server and Back End Server

 

Update for Mediation server (KB 2796554)

Update improves the reliability, stability, and performance of Lync Server 2013, Mediation Server.

This update is required on the following server roles:

  • Lync Server 2013 – Mediation Server

 

Update for Unified Communications Managed API 4.0, Core Runtime 64-bit (KB 2781555)

Update improves the reliability, stability, and performance of Lync Server 2013, Unified Communications Managed API 3.0 Runtime.
